A healthy and balanced diet obviates the need for supplemental vitamins, minerals or protein.

However, studies have shown that most Americans do in fact have vitamin and mineral deficiencies. The risk of deficiencies are increased in certain populations including those that are overweight or obese, individuals using certain over-the-counter or prescription medications, individuals of advancing age and those who have a restricted diet-either by choice or medical necessity.

Depending on the patients’ circumstances, evaluation and treatment of potential nutritional deficiencies may be warranted. Dr. Youdim is a physician nutrition specialist with expertise in clinical nutrition and can evaluate for and provide a tailored vitamin and mineral regimen that may include dietary plan and guidance on necessary supplementation.
