Let me ask you, the last time you were making a decision did you weigh the pros and cons of inaction? 🤔
Usually when we are making decisions, we focus on the action itself. What will happen if we do the thing. What are the pros and cons of taking the drug, taking time off or quitting the job without considering the consequences of not doing. This is a different lens and might result in a different conclusion. Because, not doing, that comes at a cost too!
This week on HealthBite, I explore the costs of maintaining the status quo. This consideration is important not only in considering pros and cons of straight forward decisions like taking or not taking a drug, but also for more esoteric questions like making a life shift. Often we avoid the calling of our heart because of responsibilities or logistics. These are valid considerations. However, we fail to acknowledge there is a cost to not doing, the cost of how we live or fail to live when we don’t show up to our our true calling. I have found that logistics can actually be a mask for fear based decision making and a guise of being “responsible,” perhaps we are not realizing The role of the inner critic:
📌A fear of failure
📌A desire to please
📌A self limiting belief
📌over-identification of a role or a profession that does not take into consideration the whole of you or
📌an attachment to an outdated model of you.
In my book, Hungry for More, I discuss the hunger that develops when we deny ourselves our hearts calling.
We develop a longing, a hunger, that we then seek to soothe with overworking, compulsive shopping💳, gambling🎰, smoking🚬, drinking🍻…and yes with food🥡🍩🍨🍟🍕.
I hope this episode pushes you out of your comfort zone and gives you some food for thought💭.
