Words Matter!
They matter when we are talking to our partners, our team members and even when we talk to ourselves. You might be surprised to know that our words matter even to our health. What we say about our health behaviors impacts how we feel about them and how we feel about them has everything to do with whether or not we engage with them. So this week, I am going to talk about 3 ways that our words impact our motivation for movement and exercise and offer you 3 alternatives. Exercise is critical to our physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing. Studies show that exercise improves cognition, creativity and productivity in the work place. But did you know that that people who exercise reported greater sense of purpose and meaning in their lives?🤯 This fun fact absolutely blows my mind! Given all the benefits of exercise, we cannot leave our motivation to engage in it up to chance. More importantly, you cannot actively say and do things to lessen your motivation for this nutrient.
So this week, I want to share the 3 barriers to exercise:
📌 The words that you use towards yourself
📌 Self -limiting beliefs and labels
📌 The myth of not enough (time)
And I am going to show you how to flip these barriers on their heads. You can tune into the full episode (as always less than 20 minutes) and find out how I used these strategies myself to go from the girl huffing and puffing to get thru a 16 minute mile (in nylon gym shorts) to running the LA Marathon🏃♀️.
If I can do it, so can you! If you are interested in bringing this message to your team, professional groups or organizations respond to this email and I will send you all you need to set up the most inspirational keynote or workshop. You can listen to the whole episode here. 👇👇
